Police in Nanaimo say they have found the body of a teenager missing for nearly two months.
16-year-old Makayla Chang was reported missing on March 22nd and it was believed she may have been headed to Metro Vancouver.
In a statement, Nanaimo RCMP say they are treating the teen’s death as a homicide, though they don’t believe there is any threat to the public.
Earlier, police had said that a 57-year-old suspect named Steven Bacon was brought in for questioning as they felt he had useful information, but he has since disappeared.
Nanaimo RCMP is not providing any further information as the investigation continues, but the Nanaimo Ladysmith School District released a statement saying counselling services are available for anyone affected.
